Like most battles in the civil war The battle of Shiloh was bloody but most battles aren't the bloodiest of their times. The Battle of shiloh known as The Battle of Pittsburg landing, was the bloodiest war in america up until that time. It took place in Hardin County, Tennessee from April 6 to 7, 1862. The strong Confederate army attacked the unprepared Union camps. The Union was driven away from their camps but, they were intent on holding their stands were able to form a semi strong battle line called “hornets nest”. It looked like the union was going to stand a chance but, because of the large amounts of equipment the confederate side had the confederates basically already had the win. The confederate side surrounded the union soldiers killing wounding and capturing them. The Unions continued fighting throughout the night and eventually a back up army came. The backup army overpowered the confederate side 40,000 to 30,000. The confederate army withdrew from the battlefield and to everyone's surprise the Union won the battle of Shiloh. The battle of Shiloh was 2 days long left 23,000 people dead and was the bloodiest war in the civil war
